I wanted to do a follow up video to my How to Pass Your ACE Group Fitness Instructor Exam on YouTube; I will link the video in this post as well. But I got to thinking about my path to teaching fitness. I have been into fitness for 10 years. I used to play with the idea of becoming a fitness trainer or teaching group classes but fear always held me back. The fear of not being a good instructor; being judged, completely messing up my routines was paralyzing. Does this sound familiar?

I have always been a very shy, quite and reserved person (unless you happen to know me well, I will loosen up). The mental picture of me being in front of a class and having to speak loud and instruct was very scary for me. The key to not letting fear drive you away from SERVING others is to realize your talents are not for you to keep to yourself. The more I teach the more I realize that the world needs more people that are willing and HAPPY to teach others how to make the most out of their lives. The world needs more people that will teach proper form and if it’s in the scope of your business the world needs more people teaching what food is healthy and what food isn’t.

You see, this isn’t about you; it’s about serving others. Once I started looking at my fear from that perspective, it became a no brainer…that no matter how afraid you may be you have to do this. Not to say that you fear isn’t legit, I mean, mine was…but when we face our fears we become stronger. On your first day of teaching you might stumble and make a mistake but we learn from our mistakes by making them. Not by thinking about them.
